RETHINKING CREATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE – FCAEA & EVERYDAY AFRICA

May 15, 2017

The Foreign Correspondents’ Association of East Africa was excited to partner with the pioneering photography project Everyday Africa to hold a panel discussion on “Rethinking Creation In The Digital Age” in Nairobi, ahead of the launch of the new Everyday Africa book in the city.

The well-attended event held in mid-May brought together experts from different countries in Africa working in journalism, art, photography, and academia to discuss their experiences of creating on the continent.

The panelists were Tulanana Leah Bohela (Ona Stories), Peter DiCampo (Everyday Africa), Yagazie Emezi (Everyday Africa), Mutua Matheka (Unscrambling Africa) and was moderated by Matina Stevis (WSJ and FCAEA Vice-Chair). The discussion spanned both the conceptual and practical aspects of their work and inspired great questions and comments from the audience.

Prior to the panel discussion, the FCAEA and Everyday Africa together carried out a portfolio review for for some twenty photographers based in Kenya.
