Google News Initiative x IPAEA training

On Monday, 10 June 2024, Google News Initiative in collaboration with the International Press Association of East Africa (IPAEA) conducted a training for members on Google's approaches to AI & AI enabled products.

We had a session that showcased new features in Google Search and Fact Check Explorer that help journalists and fact-checkers verify online content. The resources provide additional context to users so that they better evaluate the information they are seeing online.

There was also another session on Google Pinpoint, an AI-powered tool that allows journalists to sieve and analyse information from large data sets and files. Pinpoint extracts text from handwritten notes, provides an editable format file from scanned documents, transcribes audio and video files, extracts data from PDFs and much more, saving time and energy for journalists.
